Taylor Alison Swift was born on Wednesday, December 13, 1989 in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Andrea and Scott Swift. Taylor grew up on an 11-acre Christmas tree farm in Wyomissing. Taylor had a hard time in middle school. She had many struggles with friends. Some days she would wake up and not know if at school if anyone would talk to her. Her friends would pick up their lunches and move to a different table when Taylor sat down. These problems with her "friends" is what steered Taylor to music. She soon realized that singing the national anthem was a great way to perform in front of many people. Taylor convienced her mom to take her to Nashville to visit record labels. She would walk in by herself and say, "Hey, I'm eleven, and want a record deal. Call me!" She gave each record label a homemade c.d. of her singing karoake. Taylor's parents eventally agreed to move to Hendersonville, a town about 20 miles from Nashville, to help futher Taylor's career.
When Taylor was just 14, she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and was the youngest staff song writter. Taylor wrote lots of songs for Sony/ATV, but she preffered writting songs for her own use. For that reason she asked her bosses to not give her songs to other artist to sing. She told her bosses, "I write them about a guy who's sitting next to me in class, who doesn't notice me and I can't bear to let someone else sing them."
One night when Taylor was performing at The Bluebird Cafe she caught the eye of record excutive, Scott Borchetta who was known for his work with Universal Records. Borchetta spoke to the Swift family after the show about Taylor amazing voice and performance. He said, "I have good new and I have bad news. The good news is that I want to sign you to a record deal. The bad news is that I'm no longer with Universal Records." Borchetta was planning on starting his own record label. He didn't have a name for it, a building for it, or a staff for it but he had a dream and was wondering if Taylor would come aboard. She went with her gut instinct and said yes. I think that her gut instinct was a good thing to follow! :)
Taylor has made lots of success with Big Machine Records. She has had sold more than 5,300,000 copies of her Fearless c.d.. Also she has sold more than 24,300,000 digital tracks. WOW! Keep up the great work Tay Tay!
